     Egypt - Early Dynastic Period

About 3200 BC. Menes (Mena) conquered the northern delta and united Upper- and Lower-Egypt. The Lower Egypts red crown and the Upper Egypts white crown was also united into one crown. Pharaoh Menes was the first pharaoh in Egypt, and the founder of the 1. dynasty.

Pharaoh Menes is also the founder of the first capital in Egypt -  Memphis (Menefer). Memphis is placed exactly on the border between Upper- and Lower-Egypt. According to Manetho this happened in 3200 BC. Some historians mean that Menes is identical with Narmer because he portrayed himself of the ruler of Upper and Lower-Egypt on the famous Narmer-palette.
