Egypt - The Giza-pyramids in Cairo

If you want to go to Cairo, you should go to the famous Giza-pyramids. The trip through Cairo is compared to Danish conditions very crazy. The cars run side by side and no one sticks to the road they are supposed to follow. It is not easy, because you can easily meet a carriage with a donkey, or a man that walks on the road with a wagon.

There are many cars, from new BMW or very old Isuzu-busses. All of this gives you a picture of what you can expect when it is all on the road at the same time. The local walk where they feel like it, through parked cars and on the street

The pyramids is an extreme vision. High above the town of Giza, the pyramids stands in the warm sun. We visit the pyramids by  bus and the first stop was at a place where we all could take pictures of the three pyramids together.

If you want to get inside of a pyramid, there is an opportunity for this almost every day. If you want to go inside the Cheops pyramid you have to be there very early when the place opens. There are separate opinions about how many people they will let pass. We have heard 150 or 250 persons a day. If you want the opportunity to go inside of this pyramid, it is a good idea to take the trip over two days so you can be there early.

If you don’t get tickets to the Cheops-pyramid, you can visit the Chephren-pyramid instead. This pyramid looks bigger when you look at all the Giza pyramids at the same time. This is because the Chephren pyramid is build on a higher ground. The Chephren pyramid is only 4 meters smaller than the Cheops pyramid, so it is still big.

It is a big experience to be inside of a pyramid. It is an amazing building which is so big that it is difficult to comprehend how they were build. So if you have the opportunity then…… DO IT!!

Beside the Cheops pyramid lays one of the great solar boats, which was found beside the pyramid. You have to pay to get inside the building, but it is an amazing experience you have to consider. It is an amazing thing to see this big ship. Think about that they build this big ship to a dead man. The sun ship has been restored and now it hangs under the ceiling in a big building.
The boats are made of cedar-wood. They are the oldest boats of that size to be found so far. The pit is 30 m long, and the boat after it has been assembled is 42 m long. A large cabin is placed a little midship on the deck. Its roof is supported by palm-shaped columns. The timber was held together by wood pins and ropes.

In front of the great pyramids lays the Sphinx, as a giant keeper. It is a lion body with a human head. This huge rock is made out of one piece of rock, which Chephren choose to stay instead of being removed. Beside the Sphinx lays the temple of dead, where they embalmed Chephren.
